Woods' blunder costs USD 12 billion to sponsors

Sponsors of golf superstar Tiger Woods have lost around USD 5 to 12 billion since reports of his extramarital affairs broke out, a new survey has said.

The new study by the University of California, Davis (UC Davis) examined stock market returns for the 13 trading days that fell between November 27, the date of Woods' car crash and December 17, a week after the sports champion announced his indefinite leave from golf.

Two UC Davis economics professors, Victor Stango and Christopher Knittel looked at eight of his sponsors - Accenture; AT&T; Tiger Woods PGA Tour Golf ( Electronic Arts); Gillette ( Proctor and Gamble); Nike; Gatorade (PepsiCo); TLC Laser Eye Centers; and Golf Digest ( Conde Nast).

Kotla Will not host Ind-SA Test

The dangerous pitch at the   Ferozeshah   Kotla has put    Delhi out of the race to host India's   Test match against   South   Africa early next year .

Delhi was a front-runner to host one of the two Test matches when South Africa visit the country in February-March for three ODIs and two Tests.

"But after the pitch fiasco that led to the abanbdonment of the fifth and final India-Sri Lanka ODI yesterday, Ferozeshah Kotla is now out of the race," a BCCI source said.

Jacques Kalis Scored Second Most Runs in Decade.

South African all-rounder Jacques Kallis has scored second most Test runs during the decade when he made 75 in his side's second Test against England here, surpassing India's Rahul Dravid.
Kallis hit 75, including seven fours, in his 132-ball innings to amass 8,627 in this decade. Only Australian captain Ricky Ponting has made more runs than him at 9,446.
Captain Graeme Smith lauded Kallis for his achievement but felt that the search for a replacement needed to be intensified, especially in the wake of concerns about a rib injury that left the all-rounder out of the first Test.
" Jacques is one of the best players in the world,, and (almost) 10,000 test runs and 300 wickets is not something achieved lightly," Smith said.

Kotla Pitch Fiasco a Great Embarrassment : MS Gill

Sports Minister MS Gill today termed the Feroze Shah Kotla pitch fiasco as a"great embarrassment"and said the Cricket Board and the DDCA owe an explanation to the country for the abandonment of the fifth and final India-Sri Lanka ODI due to a dangerous track."It is very unfortunate and a great embarrassment for the country. It should not have happened. I watched the match a bit on TV and it was terrible to see such an incident taking place," Gill said.
" What I can say, all those who are in-charge of cricket nationally and state-wise can only answer on the issue,"he added. To the embarrassment of Delhi and District Cricket Association and the entire nation, the game at the Feroze Shah Kotla was called off when the Sri Lankan innings was into its 24th over after Thilina Kandamby complained to the on-field umpires about the dangerous bounce. The incident also triggered off crowd trouble as incensed spectators hurled water bottles and ripped the stadium&aposs chairs. The episode has put a question mark over Kotla&aposs prospect as a 2011 World Cup venue as the Delhi ground faces the risk of being banned by the International Cricket Council for a minimum of 12 months.
